United Contamination Control, Inc. is a company that has been dedicated to the contamination control industry for over 25 years. We have developed state of the art cleaning and packaging techniques that provide a quick, competent service to many specialized businesses included in the aerospace, military, and industrial sectors.

Planning Working directly with our customer, UCC is often involved in pre-production planning, at times providing written cleaning procedures for approval by our customer or the end user. Frequently UCC recommends at what stages the cleaning, testing and packaging processes should take place, along with the proper sequence for these operations. This early involvement helps minimize costs while helping to assure clean, acceptable hardware.

Precleaning Precleaning is necessary for the removal of visual contamination generated during manufacturing. This step prepares hardware for final cleaning which can then take place within a cleanroom, or other designated clean area. During this stage, hardware can be reduced to their basic components, thereby eliminating inaccessible areas. Precleaning is performed utilizing a variety of approved methods including solvent degreasing, and power flushing, along with mechanical, chemical and ultrasonic cleaning methods.

Precision Cleaning Precision cleaning includes various processes which take precleaned hardware to the next level of cleanliness. These processes are performed within cleanrooms built in accordance with FED-STD-209. UCC's custom designed cleanrooms contain over 1000 sq.ft. of Class 10,000 environment and house multiple Class 100 workstations for small and intermediate size hardware. All process media is filtered to below one micron absolute at point of use.

Cleanliness verification is assured by visual examination under white light and U.V. light, along with objective analysis methods including liquid or gaseous particulate counting, non-volatile residue (NVR), and total filterable solids (TFS). While performing final cleaning and verification, the pressure, flow rate, and flow pattern of solvents can be controlled through the use of custom designed flushing systems. Drying methods include purging with ambient or heat filtered gases, and vacuum dehydration ovens.

Assembly and Testing Assembly is performed in accordance with manufacturers procedures utilizing approved lubricants. Testing is performed in cleanrooms equipped with pneumatic and hydrostatic test panels. All testing is filtered below one micron absolute; each test panel is equipped with gauges designed for the most accurate readings at all pressure ranges. Pneumatic testing is performed to 10,000 psi and hydrostatic testing to 30,000 psi. Lubricants compatible with oxygen and nuclear systems are readily available. Observation windows allow for monitoring of tests from outside the cleanroom.

Sealing and Packaging Sealing and packaging is performed to maintain the integrity of the cleanliness. Sealing materials are purchased precleaned and certified. In addition to cleaned bags, a large variety of sheeting material commonly used in the Aerospace & Defense Departments are maintained in stock for custom made bags and overwrapping. Secondary bags are utilized as required with the necessary identification and cleanliness markings applied. Items are packed in suitable containers, using approved cushioning materials conforming to industrial or military specifications. Containers are properly marked and all documentation necessary for shipment is provided.

Chemical Analysis Determination of contaminants, as well as solution control are supported by a complete on site chemical laboratory. Analysis of hydraulic fluids routinely include viscosity, specific gravity, neutralization number, water content, resistivity, chlorine content, mineral oil, and particular analysis.
